Negotiate criteria for success that include sustainability to evaluate design ideas, processes and solutions

 

Year 5 and 6 / Design and Technologies Knowledge and Understanding / ACTDEK023

Investigate characteristics and properties of a range of materials, systems, tools and equipment and evaluate the impact of their use.

 

By the end of the webquest student's will have

  • Independently and collaboratively identifyed criteria for success, processes and planning.

  • Evaluated the suitability of materials, tools and equipment for the specific purpose of a graden.

  • Considered the crietria for success in relation to the benefits and costs of production processes, the environmental impact, future use and application, and social values and ethics of clients.

 

Australian Curriculum

  • The webquest has been designed to be done over a number of lessons / weeks. It is reccommended students spend at least two, one hour lessons on each section in order for students to conduct thorough research and gain the full potential.

  • This webquest has been designed for a school with a pre-exisiting garden.

  • Students must use the design tool by GrowVeg to plan their garden and produce they will plant. This tool can be accessed for a 7 day trial and requires Adobe to run. It can be used either on tablets or computers.
